Hey Dave! the trip is winding down. We extended it by a week to catch the G-son's last game. Real extremes in weather from when we got here. Thanks for looking in my friend. i saw 2 flying together yesterday with what looked like a thin ribbon trailing behind them,any idea what that is?

No Luke I have never seen that. When they are flying together as you described the are finished mating and are in what is called tandem. Male in front and female behind. He is taking her to a suitable place to lay her eggs. The only thing I can figure is something may have caught on the spurs on her leg like a piece of grass.

Thank you very much. I'm so glad you enjoyed my work. No I'm not an entomologist. I do belong to 5 entomological groups but the dragonflies and damselflies have been my passion for the past 14 years. I hunt them all over the country, Mexico and Central America. I shoot them for ID trying to capture the field markings. My shots are anything but artsy and I'm not a real photographer. I just enjoy hunting them and recording the data to report to OC.
