I haven't posted for quite a while, mostly because I've been out in the field so frequently and it's been difficult to keep up with capturing, culling, and processing my shots. I finally caught up yesterday and thought I'd take a few minutes to share a few favorite photos with you all.
Summer is over and migrants are returning to Southern California. Although we have some species that stay in or migrate to our area for the Summer, it is our "slow season." Most ducks and many shorebirds and songbirds leave the area for cooler climes. These migrants return and remain from October to April, making the coming months a wonderful time to see and photograph a great variety of birds. Hope you enjoy.

Hutton's Vireo...compare me with the Ruby-crowned Kinglet, above. We were in the same tree.

Orange-crowned Warbler...my crown is NOT black...probably just dirty. I am found in SoCal year round. I'm not a migrant.

Very kind kpmac. Much appreciated. I’ve been working with some new settings and think they are working for what I do. Have a great week. jak
Wonderful varied set. Great sharp details. Some of these are new to me (Ruddy Turnstone etc).
Thanks, jd. Yes, the Ruddy Turnstone is one of my favorites. I see small numbers in several locations nearby in Sprint and Fall. They are very flashy. Thanks again and have a happy Halloween and a great week. jak
