We are off to NOLA tomorrow for a week. Where to find the best music venues—jazz, Dixieland, etc. and, any special restaurant or other suggestions. We will be visiting the WWII museum. Thanks.

Try Mulate's for some to-die-for gumbo and jambalaya.

AND, the Cafe du Monde for the best beignets that I have ever had. Right up there with Krisppy Creme glazed when the HOT light is on.

Court of Two Sisters, Brennan's, Commanders Palace and the list goes on.
Music - In and around the French Quarter and go to Frenchman Street venues just be aware of your surroundings.
Highly suggest some old plantation homes along the Mississippi River. The "Oak Alley" gets all the ink but there are many others that put Oak Alley to shame in my opinion.
Have fun and be safe!

Mother's restaurant on Poydras St (a must), Central Grocery on Decatur St, for a Muffaletta (a must), Cafe Maspero's on Decatur for some tourtisty restaurant,, Jackson Square for art and the St Louis Cathedral, the Garden District and the trolly thru the Garden District and to/from Audobon Zoo, a short drive over the bridge to Algiers and view some 'night' scenes of the New Orleans skyline from the levy park near the Algiers ferry, day trip to Houma House and Gardens. One night on Bourbon (my opinion) is probably enough, however much better French architecture is OFF of Bourbon Street throughout the French Quarter. Be safe and maintain situational awareness, not the safe town it used to be, although it never was....Cheers!

If you wish to experience old NOLA, I highly recommend a dinner at Tujague’s.
I have eaten there for 70+ years. You won't be disappointed if you like old school.
