This morning I visited the Princeton Battlefield where the American Colonials defeated the British after defeating British regulars and Hessian Mercenaries in two engagements in Trenton. It was a really nice morning and the fall colors were spectacular. The first shot is of the famous "Mercer Oak" where American Brig. Gen. Mercer fell during the Battle. The tree that was there during the battle died and collapsed in 2000. This tree is a descendant of that original tree. The other two shots are more about fall color than American history. The fourth photo was taken with a fisheye looking pretty much straight up. The final shot is just a fun shot with the camera almost on the ground. The tree in the background is the same "Mercer Oak" that we saw in the first shot.

I think I’m favoring the Dandelion as the better of them. Probably because of the story and the tenacity of the species. Having the Oak blurred but identifiable in the background makes it pop.

With just a bit more sky detail #2 would be a definite wall-hanger.
Makes for some very nice downloads!
A beautiful set Erich, I can’t choose a favourite, I like them all.

Thanks. I was worried that there might be too much blur; but I think it just makes it.

I thought that as well. I think I might have to look into a sky replacement. I'd like to use my own shot instead of taking one from PS. So before I do that, I'll have to shoot some clouds.

The key was to get there early. My wife wanted to come along until I said that I wanted to get to the park around dawn. So we are going to compromise. I got to get out really early on Saturday and take my photos to my hearts content. Today, Sunday, we are going to drive out there together and do some hiking in the area. The weather is more overcast today so I would not have been able to get the same photographs. It's a nice drive through a pretty area of New Jersey. The only one who loses out on the deal is our old dog who will have to stay home and take a nap. He's not much for hiking these days.

Nice shots, Erich, enjoyed! If were to pick a winner, it would be the fisheye shot.

Thanks for taking a look and commenting. I like that shot as well. You can overdose on fisheye images; but sometimes they just work.

Enjoyed them all, but especially #3. We don't need a whole forest of beautiful color all the time. Sometimes the simplicity of a few branches on a single tree trunk is just enough.
Without the history lesson, they would all be nice fall shots. I like the composition of your first shot. And the last one for being whimsical.
