This is with my new (to me) Canon 400mm f4 DO lens. I am not completely comfortable yet with my 1D mark IV so I shot these with the 80D ......both show a minnow in his beak !

1/1000, f4, 800 ISO, hand held in lower early morning semi-overcast light, small crops.

You know, I really appreciate your shooting skills, because all the time I've read or written great blue heron, it always looked gray to me 💙💙🔟💙💙 Maybe my eyeballs are loose 😜

Both of these are great shots Larry. Love the feet dragging in the water on the 1st shot and the colors on the 2nd

I love the way you are able to apply your extraordinary makeup skills used in portraiture to bring out the beautiful blue in this heron.

Well done! Two beauties. The vast majority of my heron shots show vividly their ability to fly a zero bearing rate away from me.

number 2 is simply perfect! Did You "cheat" with the WB or is it really this bluish?

Thanks ! , I did bump the saturation a small bit, but my main concern was making the water look presentable .....along with the feathers.
