Just happen to be going by this John Deere in the field, here in the Flathead Valley.

John Deere's first implement was a one-bottom plow. Wonder how many of those this monster can pull. Impressive photograph.
Nice find. That big fellow and his companion are worth so many dollars that I am surprised it isn't in a shed somewhere.

Excellent shot! I could see John Deere using that photo in their adds!

A tractor of this magnitude would be worthless in a shed. But, it is very vulnerable sitting still all by itself in a field. They have been known to "run off" when left unattended, a dilemma of serious financial magnitude. A very few people in business for themselves experience this situation.

Slightly larger than the A & B that did the job at my family’s Iowa farm in the 50s and early 60s.
I drove a John Deere G and had to bundle up with 3 layers of clothes when out in the field. Only problem with the one in the picture is if you see a rabbit, by the time you open the window and get your shot gun it will be too far away to get for dinner.
Reminds me of the story of the farmer who, as hunting season approached, got some paint and wrote "cow" on his cows, "pig" on his hogs, etc. Made it through the season with none of his animals killed, but he did find 4 bullet holes in his John Deere tractor.
I was raised on the farm and remember the old "poppin' Johnny," the two cylinder engine where the sequence was cylinder one fire, cylinder two fire, cylinder one exhaust, cylinder two exhaust etc. without the greatest muffler. Two loud bangs followed by two not so loud bangs, BANG BANG bang bang. Drive one of those all day and you still heard it all night.
