Maxxum lenses to Minolta XE-7

I have several wonderful Maxxum lenses and would like to use them on my Minolta XE-7. Is such an adapter available, and if so where? And what functions might I lose? I know the reverse adapter is available.

The flange distance for the Minolta A mount is 1mm longer than the flange distance for the SR mount which the XE-7 needs. So it's possible to make an adapter that doesn't need a lens element although I checked Fotodiox and they don't have such an adapter. A mount lenses have no aperture ring so it's not possible to set the aperture with the XE-7.

If you build such an adapter you will have only near focus ability. BTW, the native lenses for the XE-7 are absolutely top shelf and available cheap. The XE-7 was a joint project with Leica.

If the difference is 1mm, you're probably SOL on finding an adapter for these lenses to that mount.

I use the adapters for two different instances of 2mm differences. There is barely space to engineer latches into these. The idea of any adapters for a 1mm difference is quite out of the question, especially where a mechanical control ring must be included to operate the iris in the Maxxum lenses manually.

Neither of my 2mm depth adapters needs a mechanical ring to operate a lens iris, and theres no room to build in such a ring given the sparse dimensions of such adapters.

Narrow silver ring is ENTIRE 2mm adapter.

I believe that adapter enables a manual focus / manual aperture lens, right? I believe our OP is also seeking 'auto' functions for this proposed configuration?

I don't know if anyone makes such an adapter but with 1mm the best one can do is to make one that can focus correctly but there is no room to put any mean of aperture control on the lens without the aperture ring. So at best the lens will always be at minimum aperture which is basically useless. You could jam the aperture level of the lens to make it open to a fixed aperture.

I wouldnt presume that he is "seeking" auto functions given that he does ask about what functionality he might lose. The unfortunate answer acoarst is "everything, and more".

As to the image of the 2mm adapter, that F to EOS adapter is one of verrrrrry few such thin adapters. Another is the Sony E to Nikon Z (by Megadap) which I also use. If you ever wanna see how much correction a Sony body applies to hide optical flaws, just put an E-mount lens on a Nikon and all will be revealed !
