October 21, took a drive in Nothern Michigan around the Walloon Lake area. Colors were at their peek.
Was on an autumn color tour in this area on Saturday. We travelled across the "breezeway" and were treated to spectacular color. At this time of year north of Cadillac the color gets as good as anywhere, but timing is critical. One week it is not and the next week it is. This is the only time of year when the conifers accentuate the deciduous and they all blend. The "summer people" are gone and most communities seem deserted. Color tours are more popular than football, thankfully. We encountered two other groups while traveling. Great time of year to "take it all in." Great place to motor.
