Canon 1DX3, Canon 8-15 f4 fisheye
I spent the day visiting friends I haven't seen for a long time. We did some pictures with the fisheye and thought I would share it with you. I have a love/hate relationship with flash units and found it difficult to balance the flash with available light, but then I was sitting right a their feet so the flash was too close for comfort as far as I'm concerned, but without it they blended into the darkness.

Very nice shot but, I would cut the top off to make that light flash on top of the picture to disappear. Other than that... I really like this shot!!!

This photo is ready to mount in an embroidery hoop and hung with others to make an unusual display.

Here is a way to make a phony fisheye

Maybe I might agree (can scroll it dwn, & THERE you have it!), but it is still a GREAT shot, really either way!! To me, the fish eye allows your subject to be "enveloped" by the scene, bringing your eye all-the-more to the subject.

Fisheye lenses work great for portraits of people you don't like.

But you lose the effect we were after of the lens on the trees.

Either you like them or you don’t. There’s no inbetween

The flash was very close to the subject so most of the output was on them. The flash output was about 1/4 power so I don’t think any of the light reached the trees. I think what you are seeing is the sunlight lighting the leafs. When I zoomed in there didn’t appear to be any light on the branches.

A good creative use of a fisheye to make an environmental portrait.
I assume the intent was to show them IN the forrest environment
You might want to rotate CCW a bit so the they appear as straight as possible.

The closer objects are to the center of the frame/ lens axis the less distorted they will appear.
You can also control this by stepping back a foot (to get the people to appear slightly smaller thus closer to the center) and if necessary coping away any unwanted elements that result from backing up
I wouldn't view doing a close crop as someone suggested, because the whole point of the picture was to use the fisheye to show the forrest. If you wanted that effect, you could just use a longer lens.
I think it is a fun picture..... Nice

Ok. Trees. Didnt know trees were a priority. But still striving to avoid visual confusion ... some of which isnt an optical effect but just adjusting shadow density.

I get my 8mm lens out a couple of times a year, and the fiddling is great fun 🌞🌞🌞🌞

I sure like the effect. I wonder if would be possible to put a flash unit behind to create a rim light and create the separation your looking for.
