They were done 'in camera'. As I 'panned' from left to right, the camera automatically stitched the images together. During a typical shot, it sounds like 15-20 images are being taken so each 'patch' would be rather small, hence the flattened appearance. I've always liked the results, particularly on broad landscapes. Also, at least with my current camera, the Sony a6500, it works with both my normal lens, the 18-135mm, and the 10-18mm wide-angle. My older cameras, the Sony A65 and the Sony a6000, it always had a problem with the wide-angle lens, but the Sony a6500 works like a dream. Now you still have to be able to pan smooth and level, and there's a speed which you have to be able to hold consistently, but over time, you learn what the camera expects (it informs you if you're NOT doing it right).

This was taken a couple of weeks ago at Bass Harbor Head Light Station in Bass Harbor Maine. I had a 24-70 Nikon lens and figured 24 was not widen enough for the picture. So took 2 pics and stitched them together in LR, cropped at 16:9 to fit computer monitor. I was lucky, this was about the only time that day we saw the sun. Prefect luck.

Beautiful shot, Mike. I am so sorry you had so much rain and so little sun. It was a weird summer for Maine. I've seen many shots of Bass Harbor Light and this one is terrific.

I am overwhelmed by the responses to this challenge. Not only have I enjoyed the images, but the questions, discussions, and explanations have been extraordinary. I have learned so much more about panorama "how to"s.

What a catch!!! Not only a beautiful sunset with "Golden Hues" but with that fantastic reflection on the rocks. Beautiful to behold!

This is a mural titled "Vancouver History 1855-1955". I took this in a dirty alley in downtown eastside of Vancouver. It was for a theme photo competition in our photography club on murals. I took three separate photos of this mural then stitched it together in Photoshop. The image took an honourable mention for the competition.

A beautiful mural and worthy of the award - and more. Love the colors and the capture of different facets of Vancouver

Great work and congratulations! Panoramas are so useful for murals.

Here is another image titled "Reflections" of a mural I submitted for the theme. This was a very difficult photo to work on. The original photo has a tree branch and leaves in the top right corner and long grass from the bottom of the mural. Also I spent days working on bringing out the details in the image. The platform for example showed no detail. No one else took took photos of this mural but I thought it was a powerful image.
