I walked out the back patio this afternoon and thought someone had left a branch in the yard. A closer look and it was our resident Black Racer who usually lives in our shrubbery, hadn't seen it in a couple of months and good to see its back again. I wanted to lie down in the grass to photograph it but any movement would have sent it scurrying...then I would have had the problem of getting back up. It didn't stay long and it was off to its hole.

Invasive lizards don't stand a chance with this black beauty around...good to see its alive and doing well.

I'd like to say, "Nice snake." but I just can't bring myself to say it.

Understand, my wife will not even handle a frog or lizard, alive or dead, but she does like this snakeā€¦.from a short distance. Cheers

Nice images but I hate snakes. I'll keep the lizards.

Unfortunately we now have those large invasive lizards that prey on the anoles and other smaller lizards...this snake is welcome in the yard anytime...Cheers Ken.
