While traveling down the Danube one foggy morning through Serbia we were having coffee and croissants at daybreak and I had only my iPhone 14 Pro Max to take these two. Better than missing out entirely. Very little editing done to them, just a bit more shadow and black point added with adjustments to highlights.
Most people will relate to the early morning mist swirling about on the river.

Yes, that was one of the details that made me reach for the ‘camera’.
I have always loved being up for the sunrise, seeing the light change from blue to golden, and hearing the world come alive. The first photo is highly engaging for me with its softer colors and serenity in most of the frame. The amount of sky you've given to the composition makes the area feel unpopulated and spacious, and the foreground water textures add interest.
The boat takes the photo to another level IMO. We now see that this is a river of commerce, not wilderness. Its placement in the frame emphasizes that it's on the move, with places to go, jobs to do. Terrific image, Pete!
When you're presented with sunrise images such as these, you use whatever camera is close. Glad you caught them and shared with us. Really nice.
Excellent set, Pete! It is not the camera, it is the operator.

Very happy you saw the things I did. I almost missed the boat fumbling to get the phone out of my pocket. It was lucky timing. The second one was not as good as I wanted, but still, I like it.
Thank you for the feedback.

If it has a lens and a sensor, it’s a camera. To me at least. Thank you.

Thanks Mike. Sometimes it’s luck too.

I wonder if I'll be alive when it's the norm to
not provide the qualifier "shot with my phone"
On the other hand, it's probably only us oldies who have spent more years with a "real" camera who even think about specifying which device we used.
Two good ones Pete but the first image is my favorite.

It’s funny at times for me when others decry the value of them. The cell phone cameras are just as good if not better then the 12mp ones we used for years. And even now with the software available we can create some outstanding results.
