The old Ursuline Academy School for girls in San Antonio. This is where the 'River Walk" has it's origins. The nuns dammed the SA River directly behind this statuary. A large gazebo next and then three layers of division for the dam. First was drinking water, then a section for bathing (the reason for the damming being so high and finally clothes washing and irrigation for the lad where condos now sit.

This is where the Southwest Craft Center then took up residence. Never had any security alarms in the place, never any police either. 'Security' were the stone crosses and the entry gates with 'Ursuline Academy' with crosses to either side. San Antonio being a vary Roman Catholic City, no one in their right mind would ever think about doing any thing to a nunnery, never.

One Sunday morning I went into 'work' early and parked my car, as I got out two uniformed SA Cops walked up, "You work here?" and I explained who I was and gave them my card. They told me "Fine, walk with us."

Thy toured me through the main locations while handing me the big ring of keys that they found at the open front door, AC going and all the lights on.

One was Christian, you could see his gold cross hanging around his neck.

"Well the lights being on all night in the Academy building is typical, the ghosts are just upset."

The other cop looked at me, "Ghosts, you have ghosts! Come on, BS!"

"Ok," I told him, go upstairs and turn off the lights from inside the door and then close the door, the ghosts will turn the lights back on and they will do it over and overt until you get to this first floor hall way, ten they will extinguish the lights, but the switches will be in the off position the whole time, go on, try to turn off the lights, they won't let you."

Up he went and for several tries got no where, lights off and close the door and back on they came.

"Must be a faulty wire," He told me.

"No", Volumer Electric has replaced all the wiring and electric boxes twice and has given up. A local electrical engineer has checked the electricity and found it in perfect working order. Ghosts of the old dead nuns."

I just looked at me.

"If you would like to meet one of the old dead nun ghosts I can take you to photography into the darkrooms, her name is Mary and she died of consumption, it was her bedroom. But you may to piss her off, she won't hurt you, she is just contrary." I told him.

The cop with the cross around his neck asked me why I was not afraid?

"Oh Mary and I are good friends," I explained, "I keep the room clean and during Christmas I have my nephews come is and do photography and that makes her happy, plus she is into children, she's an old Nun and teacher. Christmas is big for nuns and the school is closed for that and she gets depressed. She likes women a bunch and the Saturday children's program is her drug! Bring you kids over and we will show them the arts and crafts, it's a freer program."

A few weeks later he was by on Saturday with his son and daughter, and they wanted to know all about the ghosts! And all had a great time doing art/craft.

I should have told that this print was done by one of my students and was in a student exhibition and the framed print was never picked up by the fellow. He printed it from the negative made by several of then students on a 120 B&W roll of film that was in my Hasselblad camera as I was demonstrating previsualization with Polaroid film. The students then adjusted her pose while showing Melissa the Polaroid. So it was a true collaboration of all of us in the making of the image.

The framed print I took home and it now hangs in the model's dressing room (of course, Debbie Doll refers to that location as "The Undressing Room!")

Ah, the hidden truth reveals itself! A Scorp. And that is why Jimmy is a naughty boy! LOL!!! Did you end up hooking up with a Tarsus? I had one my whole life till she passed away. Melanie could never stay mad at me for long, and she never got rowdy over babes necked near me. She never got crazy over Debbie Doll or Joi or Randy. She loved it when other women would tell her they saw her with me and the 'other' women, told them "Honey, you got him wrapped right around your finger, he may be around the other woman but he is totally yours! And they know it!" It is a girl thing.

She was even a great witch. She could make women uncomfortable flirting with their men. She asked me why women act so cold to her, even hate her. So I would explained to her that she was what men call a 'bone magnet', men if the could would mount her at any opportunity and their women know this. She would tell me I was crazy, that it was not true. So I told her, it was defiantly true, She was vary pretty but there all sorts of women who are better looking than you and that even I like seeing them necked and do naughty fun with them, but the truth is that se was truly a witchy woman, and could have any man she wanted. I was just lucky that I esently "tip her trigger!". With Melanie, I could feel the electricity pour off her and that she wanted me sexual all the time. And unlike most men who do not understand this, I would be direct and talk naughty, even dirty talk at her till she just could no longer restrain herself. Then after I would ask forgiveness as I could not stop myself, "You witch, anything, and every thing, what do you fancy" and she would not reply.

Oh and I always watched and looked for signs, not flowers, other things. Like making her Valentines on Valentines Day (I'm an artist). Then my department came into a set of Dyno-lite flash systems. I tried for half a year to return them to no avail. She would check them out for photo shoots she was doing. She showed up one day and wanted to burrow one of the units, I gave her an entire set up, took it to her car and said that she might just want to ensure her flash system. She looked me over, I pointed out that the school now had the flash system we needed and that it was great but it is a rich school and needs to compensate her for all that she does so this was one way to do that, and don't bring them back, ever.

Yes she was ecstatic.

Budding youth? I was mid to late 30's when I did these images. 061904 is the code for these images That is the 6th month (June), the 19th Day, of 2004. Well your correct, 2004 was when I was 54 years old, not my budding youth!

I place the month, the date and the years as my code for a file from a shoot. I also put some reference, like Serena, VADA, KNOX, Family, on and on, so I can locate files. Yes, I should have started with tjhe year and the month and finally the day, but I made this all up a vary long time ago before I had a computer. So I stuck to the code.

By the way, during film days the files had a .00 for the sheets and I would note the frame number. So it would be Serena 061904.12 12. The 12 frame, on sheet 12 of file 061904 Serena. I would mark the back of prints this way to be able to locate where the print was related to the image file.
