I take a fall color trip each year and so far have visited VT, NH, ME, MA, NY, NJ, MA, VA, NC, CO, NY, PA, MD, and WV.
I think WV holds its own with any of them. For the last two years, I've gone to WV. Last year I missed peak season around Babcock by about four days (a storm blew through and knocked down a lot of the leaves). This year I went a week earlier but due to the dryer and warmer weather, was about a week to ten days early. There was still some color and I was able to get some decent shots -- here are a few. In four previous visits to Babcock the water was much more robust. The lack of water here is evidence of the lower than normal rainfall.

I did in another take but I like the humor in this take! Actually, I cloned the rock to extend it and make him part of the rock!
Nice photos! Mecca for Fall Color? Well, maybe for the east coast! I wouldn't get rid of Andy, he's a handsome devil!
Good shooting. Nice array of shots.

Great shots - I especially like the mill.

Thank you! Looking at it in post though, I do not like the placement of the mill -- too centered. Here is a better crop. I think originally I cropped to get as much water and color in the shot as possible since there was too little of both.
