I wish I had some informative info for you, Frank. The second one appears to be shotgun ammo, which I feel you already know. The guys at " Guns and Ammo " would know.

Well, they are obviously cartridge cases, as in ammunition. The second, I agree is probably a shotgun case. The first is strange with a crimp midway along the case. Maybe a blank, noise maker?

I think that they are a rifle and a shotgun cartridge for practice use ("dummies").

1st one looks like a brass shot shell, 2nd one obviously a shot shell, looks about 410. Had an old 44 special shot shell that had a formed wooden cover to hold the shot in.

first image is not a shot shell, read the Head stamp it will give you a hint
