I wanted to share a few pictures from the 2023 International Sand Sculpture Competition Event held annually around the first or second week in October at the Neptune Festival in Virginia Beach, Virginia. It is truly an international event. I counted less than five entries from the USA from over thirty entries. The photos are somewhat deceiving in that the sculptures are on a 20' X 20' area and most were over 10' high. The entrants are only given 30 hours to complete their sculptures and they are on display for about 8 days then bulldozed. Grand work indeed. My sand box never looked this good. The craftmanship is impeccable. Artists lightly spray a biodegradable glue mixed with water to help the sculptured pieces hold up to the end. Come and visit.
Excellent work (the artists and you)!
Some very talented artist!

Nice! Am I the only one that thought the folding chair in the last image was a cell phone in the other hand? 😏

Interesting sculptures. I used to see the yearly competitions on the white sand at Fort Myers Beach unlike these, they were outside.
Great sculptures. You captured them beautifully
Wow! Some very talented sand artists. And great photos.
