I have two favourite editing apps - Affinity1 and PhotoFiltre11. I often rely on my cameras to produce high quality SOOCs with menu adjustments, but might also use those editors. Using Serif products (Affinity1 and previously PhotoPlus7) and the fact that Panasonic and Leica removed low pass filters, my on-screen pics can be spoilt with jagger. The same pics do not show jagger when viewed using PhotoFiltre.
For those who do not know of PhotoFiltre, I would thoroughly recommend that they take time out to try the 30 day free download of PhotoFiltre11. The cost to then register is a fraction of the cost of Photoshop.
My solution is simply More Pixels.

Yes - but can you explain why one app shows jagger and another (same image) doesn't?

A very plausible explanation is that one app extrapolates to create more pixels while the other just does basic simplistic edits. Clearly the sort of situation where an AI enhanced app could really prove its worth.
Yes - could well be - although the culprit is Serif's Affinity1 and PhotoPlus7 & 8!

What is jagger? Googled the word and found nothing photography related.

An example would be a diagonal but straight line in a picture which appears jagged along it's length. Staircase effect.
Google "jagged lines in photos"
Hope that helps
I have used the free (as in beer) Photofiltre 6 and now 7 for years. for my small-ish edits it works well. I have never considered the paid versions or the suite.

Yes - i have used PhotoFiltre (alongside Affinity1 and PhotoPlus7) for years. I only recently decided to upgrade to V11 as it is 64 bit with various other extras - at a bargain lifetime low cost. PhotoFiltre is my favourite.
