We left the Yellowstone Lake and returned to the west entrance along the Yellowstone River. Fall was taking hold and we had a little color along with the river to work with.
This set shows our drive up the river from the lake.
We did not have time to do the north entrance. Sounds like we were lucky. Still under construction?
It's completed and somebody counted over forty curves. We used to see a fair number of Bighorn Sheep in the canyon and it was fairly picturesque. The new road is just steep and curvy! We spend a lot of time in Lamar and caught a couple good shots of a Marten out in Warm Springs and moose there on two occasions as well. Mountain Goats were plentiful on Baronnette. The Lake Butte Overlook is always a pleasure and we stopped there a couple times as we always go out to Sylvan Lake and duck out the east entrance to Pahaska Teepee Resort for lunch. Had a couple young coyotes hunting voles or whatever about ten feet from the car in Hayden. All in all, great trip...2200 miles in three weeks driving after flying into Bozeman!
