Another artic bird come to Delaware for its winter.
Black Bellied Plovers greatly transform between their Breading and Non-breading plumage. This one is sport the winter look.
This was taken from our 19' boat in a bit of chop. (wind blew all night) The Plover is perched on the seawall/jetty protecting the Mispillion River inlet from the Delaware Bay. Keeping me and the camera stationary is impossible, and keeping the boat off the rocks highly advisable, but this does put me at eye level with the birds.
Photo is taken from approximately 40'-50' away (close would be better) @ 500 mm, ISO 1600, F8, 1/3200
