I was so proud that I showed some control and made up my mind to not buy the Nikkor 135mm Plena. Went into the camera store today to see what goodies they have for my new Leica Q3. Then they asked me if I wanted the new Plena as he placed the box on the counter in front of me. Just had to look, didn’t I. That’s like asking a kid in a candy store if he wants to sample some cotton candy.
Well. I now own the Plena. I’m so weak!

So Nikon is finally shipping a 135mm f1.8.
Sony and Canon already have amazing 135mm f1.8 lenses and Canon's has IS that is lacking on the Plena.
Enjoy the new toy.

So Canon was 8 months ahead. And IS really isn’t a big deal on a 135mm on a camera with IBIS. When is Canon gonna offer a handholdable 600mm lens that’s not a fixed f/11?

Why not use the Nikon 200-600mm which is infinitely more useful and as sharp?
Same max aperture as the fixed 600mm and from testing published sharpness is the same.
So between the 2 why waste money on a one size lens vs a lens with far more versatility.
PS, IS on a 135mm is a Godsend, especially when it is relatively heavy.

As someone once said, "a man has got to know his limitations." And then again, maybe not. Was it bought for the Leica Q3?

You mean 180-600mm, which I have and use. Yes, Nikon has more than one handhold-able option to get to 600mm.

Right! Trying
To eliminate limitations by having the gear I need. As a friend once said to me, “you can’t use it if you don’t have it!”

No, it’s not for the Leica. 😂
