After daily use, many buttons get their writing or paint worn away through constant touching by fingers. It occurred to me that applying clear nail polish before the wear begins might protect the button/writing/paint. I ordered a $2.00 bottle of clear polish from Amazon, and I'm going to start applying it today. It's too late for the "Go" button on my Keurig, but I'll apply it to other buttons and see how it works.

Speaking of the Keurig, this one began acting up, and it continued acting up, eventually getting worse. I ordered a new one from Amazon. The day it arrived, the original Keurig began working perfectly. It knew it was about to be discarded!

Make sure the application vehicle (eg. acetone) won't attack the plastic you put it on.
Not all plastics are created equal.
It could make them rubbery or sticky.

Ah, yes! Thanks for that.

Clear also works well on small things when "Loctite" isn't available.

Good idea. It's less expensive, too.

Cheap buttons. Expensive buttons have the label molded in so it's not going to wear out.

Colored nail polish is also great for many uses. Marks the upside to plugs so I do not have to try both ways. Marks start button on washer, dryer, and dishwasher because he cannot remember. Color coded to match the room.

Exactly!

I was having breakfast at a hotel over the weekend, and I went to the orange juice machine. I couldn't figure out how to make the juice come out. Then it dawned on me: the "PUSH" writing was completely worn away from the panel.

If you have lots of minerals in the water those things need to be cleaned religiously. Mine clogged within a week, bought all the cleaning crap , got tired of that routine went to distilled water. So much easier, got lazy in my old age. More fun things to do with time left.

Speaking of keurig.we had an old one and it had a filter inside the container but we never used it since we use filtered water from the watermill express which runs the water through 10 different stages to clean and clear our hard water. the machine never called for descale.the wife desides to get a new one and after a little while it said descale otherwise it won't work.i told the wife that it is not necessary to descale since we use the good water.she made me go get the $10.00 solution from Wal mart.i descaled it but saw no calcium deposites or anything come out of the machine.these new models will tell you to descale after so many cups go through it even if the machine doesn't need it so don't waste your money unless you notice any difference in the taste of the coffee or if it just comes out slowly otherwise just do what the instructions tell you but without the $10.00 solution. The machine is not smart enough know whether the descale solution is being used or not.

I'ne used nail polish for many things. Except nails!
Clean with alky first.

We all have crappy tap water. Do a vinegar cycle routine in coffeemakers- no problems.
Didya see the "expose" on Keurig Cups? The actuall factory would make them fresh.
Instead of distributing them to stores, brokers and scalper would warehouse them.
And disburse them for increased profit during holidays and events.
Like your apples, they could be a year old by the time you see them in the market.
Read the labels- this years Pumpkin Spice products were maybe made year ago.
SWMBO pointed out that the Starbucks Christmas Blend beans I just got- packed in 2021.

Speaking of Keurig, I hardly ever bought K-cups, instead used the refillable ones I bought along with my own preferred coffee blends. Worked especially well at work when they ran out.

These come in two varieties: direct K-cup, and a larger one that requires you to remove the receptacle insert.

Caveat: I stopped following the Keurig 2 story, so the refillable ones won’t work in it.

Interesting. This Keurig is five years old. The first one lasted ten years. I recently started using the filter that goes into the water tank.

My PC keyboard is 35 year old and I haven't lost any of the labels.

The nail polish will wear off too, just as it does on fingernails. Using it would seem to be a waste of time.
