Silk Floss Tree (and a compliment)

I photographed my neighbor’s silk floss tree and kept it darker than my usual style to avoid halos against the dark shade background. I posted it on Reddit and got a very kind “professional” compliment.

Some of my best shots of flowers have been on dark days when the colors just seem to glow 🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤

The things I like about this photo are sharp focus, wide DOF, a tilting up (L to R) composition, and rich colors.

Slightly underexposing produces richer colors, so kudos for getting out of your comfort zone and giving that a shot.

Thanks for the great feedback. I wanted a clean image and started with the base ISO and then wide open with the teleconverter. Finally the shutter speed was to avoid blowing out highlights which left the subject this rich as it was in the shadows. I think I learned from this one and your comments helped me understand it better
f/4, 1/640s, ISO 200
