Sigma Is Making RF Lenses, Announcement soon? From Canon stalwart Ordinary Filmmaker. Which Sigma lenses do you want in RF mount?

As I stated before, SonyAlphaRumors' source (not from China) has stated Canon is finally going to open up the RF mount to third party lens makers.

THIS IS NOT what Canon UHH fanboy said was old news, LOL Their old news was from Chinese sources that said Canon would do a lens-by-lens approval for third-party lens makers. Something no one wanted, with just a few old-ball specialty lenses getting approval, and no timetable for lens-by-lens approval from major third-party lens makers like Sigma and Tamron .

So now Canon stalwart Ordinary Filmmaker ,is also confirming from another trusted source that the NEW news that SonyAlphaRumors said seems true, and as I had reported here in UHH, seems like it is already happening, as news is leaking from Sigma itself that they are at work on Canon RF lenses for a fully-open RF mount, not for any lens-by-lens approval like Chinese sources had said, and Canon UHHers had repeated.

This is good and welcome news for Canon R users, and it seems Canon has seen the light, and seen actual BCN numbers as its R camera sales have stalled vs the competition as reported around the world, following their third-party lens restrictions.

I welcome Canon opening their R-mount to top optical-quality Third-party lenses at more affordable prices for more budgets.

Cheers and best to you.

Fingers crossed. If Sigma does start selling RF lenses, I'd like to get my hands on an updated RF mount version of my EF 150-600. That's a great lens already on my R5, but it would be great to have one with snappier AF on an RF mount where I don't need to use the adaptor. I would also love to see their version of an ultra wide Zoom lens, like 14-35 or 15-45 f2.8. I already have a Canon EF 50 f/1.4 and the RF85 f/2 but it would be interesting to see Sigma's version of those focal lengths. Might also be nice to see their version of an RF 135.

Good news!

When I had a Canon Rebel, my favorite lens was the EF-mount version of the Sigma 10-20mm, and I only reluctantly switched to Pentax - then I discover that there was also a K-mount version of that lens!

You cant read or understand what was old news and what is new news, two very different things architect.

Those OLD reports you talk about were from a Chinese source and talked about a lens-by-lens approval process for Canon approval of any third-party lenses.

You really need to keep up with current news, not OLD news. These are NEW reports , new THIS WEEK, from non-Chinese sources about a FULLY Open RF-mount, with info today from Sigma sources of them actually working on fully open Sigma RF-mount lenses, NOT about Sigma doing ANY lens-by-lens approval process, DUH, DUH, DUH, architect.

How can you be this uninformed. ?

Architect if you would actually stop and take the time to actually WATCH the linked video in full from a longtime Canon user and Canon supporter, you would know that this is NEW information, NEW developments with NEW sources and NOT your OLD news you keep referring to. Open you eyes, open your ears, open your mind.

Cheers and best to you.

I loved my EF-Mount Sigma Art 24-105mm f4 lens which I used on my first Sony cameras, A7RII and A6500 using the Sigma MC-11 lens adapter.

Here EF-mount Sigma Art 24-105mm f4 lens with MC-11 adapter on my Sony A7RII. A double rainbow at low tide, in the town of Portree, capital of the Isle of Skye, Scotland.

Cheers and best to you. Yes it is good news for Canon R users.

You sure have a vendetta against Canon
Sounds like a severe case of jealousy.

LOL,LOL,LOL,LOL

You are so misguided and misinformed, sadly. My posts here in UHH have featured the good and bad of ALL brands, but always fact-based, and fact-supported, not blind fanboyism-based like yours.

You cant even see this is good news about Canon and good news for Canon users. I have used Nikon, Canon and Leica professionally for over 40+ years before I moved over to Sony mirrorless. I have great fondness for all the brands of gear I have owned and I still have working Canon gear that I use for personal work, and also use in my 35mm B&W film course I teach at a state university.

I have won numerous National and International Photography Awards with all my gear, including my Canon gear. When I covered the War In Nicaragua, I used Canon gear exclusively for my award winning coverage.

In addition the Nikon, Canon, Leica and Sony gear, i have also owned and used excellent gear from Pentax, Mamiya, Miranda, Fuji, Olympus, Panasonic, Bronica, Hasselblad, as well as view cameras from 4X5 inch Linhoff up to 11 X14 inch Deardorf gear.

You are the one that is so blinded and consumed by your Canon fanboyism to the exclusion of accepting any and all facts, truths and realities about the photo world.

You see everything either as an endorsement or attack on the perfection of Canon. You go out of your way to troll all threads, and you take every opportunity to bash any brand other than Canon.

This thread is about good things coming for Canon, but you cant even see that. And the linked video in this thread is from a staunch, longtime Canon user ,supporter and top Canon youtuber, but you wont even watch it to know that, sadly.

I never have heard about any professional photographer being "jealous" of any camera brand, LOL. As a successful, working professional I can afford to buy and use any brand of gear that I need for my professional and personal work, and I have..

Cameras and lenses are just tools of my trade and I will use the best tools to do my work, whatever the brand. And that is why I use different camera brands and OEM and third-party lenses, flashes and accessories in my extensive kit for my professional and personal work, shooting all subjects, around the world.

And that is why my hundreds of university photography students over the years have used gear from all brands, including school bought and supplied DSLR and mirrorless gear from Nikon, Canon, Sony, Fuji, Panasonic. And as a longtime Professor of Photography that teaches these university courses in Photojournalism, Digital Photography and 35mm BW film photography, I am the one that proposes and orders the camera gear that my university buys for our photo students to use, and that includes Canon gear.

I apologize to the rest of UHHers here, but someone has got to try and help you with your overbearing fixation on Canon, and help you see the light of truth, good and bad of any and all brands.

I will continue to post good news about all brands, including Canon, like in this thread.

Cheers and all the best to you, architect.
