Is the F-35B any quieter than the F-35? I live near the southern departure flight path of Luke AFB, and for years have heard the F-16’s on their way to the Goldwater Range and for the most part just took comfort in what we referred to as “the sound of freedom.” I must say for all their “stealth” technology the F-35s are a lot more “FREEDOM” sounding than the F-16s! I guess part of their stealth is from the fact that if you hear them and run out to see them they’re already a second from being too high, or too far down track to be visible any longer😎. They are far easier to image during approach than departure; however they’re a lot prettier with the landing gear stowed than in landing configuration. They are much stealthier landing gear stowed than with their afterburners lit. Wonderful Fleet week set great photos of a terrific bird! Just observing’, not complaining.
That's an amazing plane topcat.

It sure is, Don. You have to admire the pilots that fly it.
Stealth doesn't mean quiet! It means hard to see or impossible to see on RADAR!!!
The designers don't give a RAT'S PATOOTY as to how much noise they make.

That's the Marine Corps version and yes, its loud, very loud and as for stealth,
sound really doesn't come into play at those speeds. Cheers

I like the third one best, where we can see it in relation to something on the ground.

Great shots all, except the first which you title "stealth." If you really want to show the "stealth" feature you would show a photo of empty sky! Stealth means it is there, you just cannot see it. U. S. Marines used to fly the Harrier AH-8, which was also VTOL (verticle take-off and landing). Saw one perform at pre-race festivities of the Indianapolis 500. The pilot manuevered his A/C down the main straightaway then stopped at the pit exit, did a complete 360 degree level turn, and then cleaned up the dirty stuff and resumed his flight down the straight and out of the Speedway!. Never heard the crowd respond so loudly to an event such as that. Some A/Cs are more fun to fly than others.
Nice images! I didn't know the F35 was a VTOL plane. I remember seeing a Harrier at an airshow decades ago and was amazed by it.
