Creating Panorama From IPhone Images of Crater Lake

I took 20 IPhone images in the vertical position doing about a 20% overlap on each image. The images were then merged together using the Photomerge feature in Adobe Photoshop. The first image below is what I wound up with after stretching and straightening the image. This left me with some blank areas on the bottom of the image. See 2nd Image. I made a selection around this area and used the new Generative Fill feature in Photoshop to fill in the gap. Generative fill gave me the 2nd image below. Finally, I cropped the image to a 16x9 and did the final edits in Photoshop. See final image #3 below.

Interesting.
My Android phone takes panos and does the stitching automatically.
(They work well for me. So much simpler.)
Nice result though.

Thanks for the response. My IPHone will do a pano as well, but most of the time I don't like the results. I'm still old school from when I would shoot separate images with my DSLR and do the post stitching in Photoshop. Please feel free to post some of you pano images so we can see what they look like.

LOL, no, I'm not a pixel peeper. I only do that to my own images and only when I am going to have the image printed.

Here's one (at the bottom): Jordan Pond Pano

In case you're not fast enough to grab the image, here's a direct link: https://mymindseye.us/images/TheBubblespanoadj(Large)sig.JPG

The phone did a decent job with that pano. I need to practice this more with my Smartphone pano feature.

That turned out well, and the final result is very pleasing. It makes for an interesting project and shows what a remarkable job Photoshop can do. I have probably taken all of, maybe, a half-dozen panos in the past. One of the problems with taking a pano handheld is that you can get some waviness in the image if the camera isn’t held perfectly to the horizontal plain. I’m thinking that using the phone on a tripod would produce better results than doing it handheld.

Using it on a tripod would certainly help. Although I would think that most user's are just out and about and just hand hold their Smartphones trying to keep it on the Pano line that the camera shows.
