Lunapic Conversion of IR No Filter

This photo was taken at GlassWorks perhaps 7 years ago, using my DIY converted full spectra camera. I did not use a filter.

I decided to test Lunapic online edit program with the photo. Under the ART section is VANGAUGH, so in an instant, I had the conversion. Interesting duo-tone effect.

Lunapic.com is a free-online-editor, easy to use, and has a wide range of special effects.

Comments welcome, good-bad-indifferent.

I like it! Duo-tone (?), textured, and a strong, confident woman fully capable of using a blowtorch on a menacing alien blob-form!

Is that really how they spelled Van Gogh?

Thank you, coming from you means extra to me. Yes, van Gogh with a small case v. But in the program it is Vangaugh. But remember they are Lunapic.

Yes, fun and has basic tools for editing ... Many variations on a theme are possible.

I cleaned up the image with Topaz deNoise, Sharpen, AI... then 4x with Gigapixel. I sent a copy to Susan Gott of Gottglass Phonix Studio here in Tampa... not 7 as I originally said, but rather 21 years after taking the photo. She was elated at the artistic flare. She has been a glass artist for 30+ years.

A great idea to share with her, and very satisfying for you to know she enjoyed!

IR is something I'd like to experiment with myself. I thought about buying a converted camera, or having my D-300 converted. Just haven't pulled the trigger yet. Thanks for posting this. It has me thinking and that is a good thing.

Well, do not pull that trigger yet. My best/easy/cheap DIY conversion is a Panasonic ZS3.
Nice $80 package complete .... $80
https://www.ebay.com/p/140322214?iid=186104426698

Easy conversion... remove the filter and toss it over your left shoulder... no replacement... put the camera back together. add a 37mm ring epoxy to the snout and buy low-cost filters 550, 650, 750 nm or thereabouts. 55O nm gives some color. Graham Houghton gives a great stepwise conversion.
[12m video... about a 1 hr task] buy a 37mm UV filter... flatten the threads, then remove the glass and attach the 37mm threads to the snout with epoxy or double-sided tape.
Small screwdriver set less than $20, and perhaps add a flip-down magnifying for your glasses. Watch at:

Another ZS8

Another

EASY: Remove the back shell, then 3 screws to remove the sensor and take the blue filter off and reassemble.
