All the ads and promotions seem to concentrate on Canon, Nikon and Sony. Seems like all other brands have died or are near extinction. Pentax is one of the brands that fall into that category. I have started with Pentax back in 1964 and have used them ever since, starting with the H3v with a clip-on meter, going with the Spotmatic, the K10, K3 and an assortment of Takumar lenses ranging from 28mm to 300mm. All great products and after all these years all of them still work. Trouble is that Ricoh is failing to promote an excellent product.

I agree although Ricoh fixed some of the damage done by Hoya they don't seem to want to spend anything promoting the products. although i have been seeing some K-3 mark 3 specific ads on Facebook. I am strictly an amateur but i enter local and club contests a lot and hold my own against Canon and Nikon. I rarely ever see a Sony though. only one person in the clubs I associate with uses Sony. mostly Canon a few Nikon then there is me.

its hard to promote product.. They do have smart people in that company. And when they realize that its not fiscally smart to have a booth with DSLR cameras, at a trade convention aimed at ONLY mirrorless, there is no need to attend.
Magazine advertising is PAID... always has been. Canon and Nikon and Sony put more money into advertising then they do designing new lenses.
petapixel is a photo blog that has essentially black listed pentax products..
a few years ago a company in japan, fuji? did an aprils fool advertisement for a digital sensor that was attached to a film canister to be used in film cameras.. saw this advertisement today
https://petapixel.com/2023/10/06/a-20mp-sensor-in-a-film-canister-reinvigorates-vintage-analog-cameras/https://petapixel.com/2021/07/16/3d-printed-cartridge-turns-any-35mm-film-camera-into-a-digital-camera/why buy a digital camera?
But pentax has something special, that is no longer of interest to the digital camera market. MIRRORS.. i need a mirror for vision problems. I can only actually SEE through that EV finder thingy, about 10% of the time.. i cant even see the big back screen as i need to wear sunglasses when i go outisde.
Nothing wrong with Pentax cameras in my mind. My first SLR (film) introduced me to the brand and I've since owned and still use two Pentax DSLR's. Initially, when I decided to go digital, Pentax was the only brand that would allow me to mount my old Pentax lenses without adapters and I have been happy with the brand ever since.
