I am a pastor by vocation. So, okay, I love to talk about what I believe...occupational hazard :) By avocation I am an artist (watercolor,) photographer, and poet. I love being outdoors. My favorite subjects are flowers, butterflies, and general landscapes. I sometimes use powerpoint presentations of my photography to illustrate my sermons.
Yesterday I was looking through some old images, and ran across one that had some seriously detracting features, but had some neat features and a lovely light. So I did some major editing. I will attach the before and after (hope I get this right) I use Corel Photopaint X3.

Welcome Joe to UH,
That is some excellent editing, well done.
Do you have any more photos to post?
Eric
How nice of you to ask. And since you did ask...here are 3 recent favorites.

Joe,
Three very nice photos, I like the first two but the third is a bit undexposed. Perhaps a little fill flash on the last one or maybe shadow/highlight adjustment?
Also watch out for the 'Bulls-eye Effect' where all of your subjects are centered in the frame. This is a very small sample, but all three are centered. Do you know about the Rule of Thirds?
These are good first photos, looking forward to more.
Eric
Thanks Eric. You are right about needing to adjust the values on the Rose photo. Yes, I am aware of the rule of thirds. I took several still lifes that day, but ended feeling that the centered one actually had the most impact, and maybe is a case where the rule could be broken, though there is some asymmetry in it. I kind of feel that in the rose pic, the dominant rose is actually in an aesthetic hotspot. Maybe I should crop it bit to off-center it more.
Blessings.
Joe
