why censorship in AI?

Because of the nature of my question, I can't post this anyplace else. I am using Photoshop Beta and Night Cafe to create AI with real photos for amusement. Both platforms prohibit NSFW images. Sometimes PS will create an image around my model, sometimes. I have been notified more than once that they will not allow the use, even if the nude model is my own photo. Since all of my photos have been edited in PS, I am wondering why a platform allegedly created for artists and the production of art is censored? The censorship happens on both programs, with Night Cafe threatening to ban the user if a NSFW image is attempted. It just seems very odd that we are being treated like children. Anyone know why?

IMHO, the censorship has to do with people. There are some people who have the power to stop others from doing something only because it goes against their way of life. And, because they have the power, they can dictate. But this is only one persons opinion. And, who knows, I may be all wrong. Right? LOL.

The USA is cursed with the exiled so-called Christian Puritans. Bedetts were outlawed because women might derive pleasure from the clitoral titillation of the water stream. Birth control was outlawed in the NE states until the mid-70s.

Having lived in Argentina sexuality was respected male, female, and any other. It would be interesting to ask a UHH person in a foreign country to see if nude starting figures are allowed for AI processing.

Looking up the subject I stumbled on a surprise !! "The 63-year-old legendary men's magazine is bringing back nude models in its upcoming issue -- one year after banning naked photos in an effort to boost circulation and attract more mainstream advertisers. That effort obviously has failed." What... Wokeism at work... ?
Censorship is Freedom... I think not. Hustler was a great controversial magazine focusing on genitals well-oiled for great photos.

Hustler was an OBGYN Lesson magazine one may claim.

I was working in Nashville when the great Mapplethorpe controversy arose. "First Amendment clash over the legal meaning of art and obscenity." Luther Campbell 2LiveCrew won a Supreme Court case after being arrested in Hollywood Florida for obscenity on stage. 1994

The ‘censorship’ is…despite the rehashing of Christian morals above…more likely to be Adobe protecting themselves from having the capabilities used to produce child pornography via their platform. It’s also likely not a USA only thing. Yes, there are conservative Christians…as well as middle of the road and progressive Christians…and their moral standards might be different than yours. That makes neither you or them either right or wrong. But CSAM is illegal pretty much everywhere I think…and Adobe is simply protecting themselves from getting dragged into controversies they don’t want to be in…it’s called risk avoidance.

Buckwheat you may be able to disassemble a nude and then once AI processed reassemble it.

I wonder if at some point AI will be considered simply as a tool and therefore be exempt from liability for the end product. Would anyone ever consider the pencil, pencil sharpener, paint brush, paint, canvas, camera, computer monitor “liable” for the production of pornographic/banned sketches, paintings or photographs? Everything in this world is created from its parts, and the parts — be they the molecules that make nourishing food or deadly drugs; or nuclear reactions that provide electricity or bombs — are always 2-edged swords. The ends of a spectrum are always easy to define; it is the position and width of the gray area that is the challenge.

I'm 100% for freedom of expression. I have yet to see an image that rates a NSFW classification in my books. There is nothing wrong with any part of the male or female body or combinations thereof...

buckwheat!

When I first dabbled with Dalle-E, the prompts and results were posted on the site for others to see and basically became public domain. I also noticed the warning for images NSFW which were not allowed. There are probably young and sensitive eyes that are the reason why. I haven't played with AI lately and understand how fast things
are moving in the AI world and from your post, things such as that are still prohibited.

I did do a number of AI images for creating backgrounds where I could drop in figures, etc. I will explore more when I get some time.

Be well! Ed

Good point John. Clone tools, by the logic of censorship, should be also restricted.

Yup. Still waiting to see those 3- or 4-breasted women that someone has “photographed.”

I would almost bet that if anyone posted a 3-pointer manipulated photo of a lovely model they would get slammed for consecrating what God (or mom and dad) created.

"Total Recall" film (2012) had a 3-breasted woman.

She was probably fun to fondle. In the movie she says, "Trust me, baby, you're gonna wish you had three hands."

YOW!!! Now that could be a fun gal... for some people. Has SHE seen -- and approved -- what you have done to her?

Actually, as opposed to looking sexy or appealing my first thought is that the nipples are like the legs of a caterpillar... so I conclude the resultant manipulation to be excellent work technically, and kudos for selecting a very suitable image for a litter queen, but a thumbs down for the end result.

And even imaging only 4... I much prefer only 2, I think.

Can we see her as the lovely lady that she is?
