I get the occasional email from Excire Photo, and I wondered why. Looking further, I see that it's cataloging software for photos, and I bought it about a year ago. I guess I should start using it. Maybe tomorrow.

Do any of you use it. I probably bought it because of rave reviews from p[eople here.

I have it but watch when importing photos as it will include photos ex: book cover etc. I had to remove over 3000 photos as it included book covers and filter images.

Same with some "picture saver fobs", they save EVERY SINGLE IMAGE no matter where it resides.

I use it to classify images. Works well to sort images by various categories.

I have Excire and the Lightroom add-on automatically generates keywords as images are imported, things like "individual" or "smiling" or "glasses" as well as animals and other features of the image...it's a way of getting more metadata applied to each image without sitting and typing ad infinitum. Is it perfect? No, but they claim to keep improving it - not unlike the facial recognition function in LR, which keps getting better at identifying people but still needs my, er, "guiding hand".

So if you would want to be able to easily pull up all of your photos of, say, trains, or buildings, or birds - this can be a helpful tool.

"Tomorrow" is one of my favorite words. A more vague term I sometimes use is "some day." Remember the old song "Mañana"?
