The most difficult sport to me

Swimming is hard for me the water splashing keeps throwing my autofocus out of wack. When I think I have it nailed suddenly the water is perfectly sharp my subject not so much. I have about 30 keepers out of 830 photos.

All shot with A NikonD850, 300mmPF, Auto ISO & White Balance

Thank you for looking anybody that wants share techniques please chime in.

That's about a 4% hit rate. That's about wht I hit with prop shots on aircraft. I can live with it, because when they hit it's worth it. High risk, high reward.
In my opinion, your 4% is pretty awesome!
Well Done. (I think more post should share the story behind the shots like you have.)

Not sure if this would work but you could try pre-focusing to a specific spot in the lane, switch to manual, & let them swim into the frame.
By the way, the last shot is terrific!!!!

These are great. Swimming is hard to do, I think. You got good perspective on these.

In addition, are you using the camera's burst mode?

AMEN!! I love water sports but you are right, one of the hardest sports to shoot for me. Our swimming arena is super, but one end is all glass at least 2 stories tall. Hard to find the right angle because of light. I like you shot 800-900 photos and got very few good ones. These are nice though. Keep posting. Thanks BE SAFE!!
