I have enjoyed this picture for as long as I can remember. It hung in my parents house my whole life and my Mom left it to me and it now hangs in our living room. I find it a very pleasing composition. Pictured are my Great Grandmother, and two daughters, the one in the middle being my maternal Grandmother.
I opened the back of the frame to copy it for my siblings ( all 8 of them! ) and found a letter from the editor of Photo Era Magazine requesting permission to print it.
A little library and Google work and I found a copy of the Nov 1923 issue containing this surprise.

Very cool!!! Now you have an addition to put into the back of the picture for a future family member to find.

I recently received some old family photos too. Including some that appeared in the local news paper. Great fun going through them. Nice post!

Pretty cool. Hope you don't mind, I took a screen shot of the magazine page. I'll rotate it & read it later & then delete it. Any objections let me know & I'll delete without reading. Thanks , Tom

That's very cool. I've inherited a lot of family photos. Unfortunately, I don't know who the people are in some of them.

That is a very well done photograph and the fact it depicts your family AND you have the information regarding the photo make it a very special surprise indeed. I love the photograph and the ladies, your family look lovely.

The article about the photo just goes to show that photography critics were just as critical then as they are now. Perhaps even more!
