I don't think I have ever tried photographing ants before, at least not seriously. I found these yesterday, a whole ant hill but with one main entrance with hundreds scurrying around and many at the same time trying to get into the entrance while an equal number were trying to get out. I know they have it all figured out but it was not as it seemed to my human mind. I took a number of photos trying to focus on a select couple of ants. This one photo came out OK but I do need more practice.

I've tried doing that. It's not easy and all my images pretty much sucked. Nice grab.
Nice shot
Hope you are using a looooong lens😊

Thank you very much. Most of mine did too. This was sort of the pick of the litter. Not great but at least identifiable as an ant as opposed to a hippopotamus.

Thank you Toment. I was using the 600mm end of my Sony RX10IV.

Thank you dpullum for your comment. I would hate to have these ants in my pants. They looked as they had a vicious nature with a touch of incredible violence thrown in. As there were trails of ants leading maybe 4 feet from the nest I was very careful where I knelt down to take the photos.

Ants are hard!
Thank you Mark. Yes they definitely are very hard to photograph. My thoughts though are a few weeks ago damselflies and cabbage whites were almost impossible to get a good photograph. I am a bit better for both after having practice. They will get used to me being around.
