As we continued into Yellowstone from the west entrance we went directly to the Lamar Valley. That area was closed during our last visit because of the floods.
This area is different from other portions of Yellowstone and, if I can get them downloaded, you will see that it is home to many groups of bison.
Comments and suggestions are welcome.
These are beautiful, Mike.
They are all beauties, Mike! Lamar valley is a hotspot for wolves. Last time we were there we saw a Bisalo Cow with a calf jousting with three wolves.
I appreciate your thumbs up, Bill.

Thanks, Barbara, kind of tame compared to the rest of Yellowstone, but they show the variations within the park.
I do like all those thumbs up, Tom.

Thanks, Chief. We hoped to find wolves, but only saw bison and antelope.
...quick question.... were these taken "from the road," and how far "off the road" can you go? In the photo with the boulders, I'm wondering what the perspective would be with the smaller boulders in front framing right and left of the lone pine tree; and in the photos with the split-rail fence, using that fence more in the foreground or shoot using the cross members to frame up the "soda rock." Maybe it's just me, but I don't mind getting down on the ground or making use of putting my Sony high in the air and using the variable view-piece to see what the lens sees. (I guess, I just think everyone can get the viewpoint of standing upright, try giving the viewer a different angle).

You can go as far off the road as you want...on foot! But you can't drive off road.
More good shots, Mike. I tried to get reservations there for the first week after they open next year. They were booked solid. I want to go there one more time.....been twice. I try and avoid areas with the most tourists but that's getting to be almost impossible. I'm more interested in the geo-physical features which, outside of Old Faithful, a lot of the crowds don't care about.
A truly wonderful set, Mike. I'm anxious to see the next one.
