Great shots of these angry honey eaters. They do look angry.
Are they very common birds?
Actually, they are not angry at each other in the beginning. The male put his foot on the female's foot as a sign of affection. The female said "NO!" and took her foot away. THEN the male got angry because his attempt at affection was rejected and his feelings were hurt. After you stopped taking pictures she pecked his eyeballs out.
You might have heard of the computer game, "Angry Birds"... Well, here's my version... Poor little guy has got a sore foot now.
I envy you guys who live among such beautiful creatures First time in years I had shots of a cardinal at my feeder - and he looked like he spent about 20 minutes in someone's clothes dryer. Thanks for shots of this awesome encounter 🖤💛🤍💛🖤
