Test shot

I finally took the Canon EF 400mm F5.6 with the
EF 2XIII extender out to see if it really could perform at 800mm f11 with the R6 on the moon. It took some effort to focus as the tripod wasn't the most stable and hard to keep it centered. I'll try it again on a much more stable tripod with a tracking mount.

Looks like it worked fine.

I know, it's just another moon snapshot, but I couldn't find another subject that was at least this far away to test the combo on. Now for the difficult subjects...galaxies, nebulae, dark energy.

Great shot of my favorite 29% Waxing Crescent Moon.

Not sure about me, but the camera and lens did pretty good.

I'd say you did a great job. Even expanded, it held up. Tripod worked just like you hired it to do.

Looks good. Do you use a remote or delayed exposure? = It helps with camera shake.

I used a 10 second delay and also tried electronic shutter on this one. The focusing with a camera lens is so much more difficult than when using a telescope with a 10:1 gear reduction focuser. I still like the challenge and the less weight of camera and tripod.
