A very interesting area, and photogenic as well. We visited there 2 years ago this month, and hope to return someday. The Tall Grass Prairie Preserve is located just outside/north of the town of Pawhuska, OK (west of Tulsa). The town has quite an interesting background, but not exactly the best... It has a really good museum, the Osage Nation Museum, the oldest tribal owned and continuously operated museum in the U.S., as well as several others. When we visited, there was a movie being shot of some of its history, "Killers of the Flower Moon," starring Leonardo DiCaprio. I found it kinda amusing that they had covered the paved streets with dirt, but the vintage cars used in the movie set were all very clean, and shiny! Nothing like the dusty old vehicles I remember...
The real draw for me was the Tall Grass Prairie Preserve. It is the largest piece of native tall grass prairie left in the U.S. It is located on the eastern edge of the prairie, with just a few scattered trees mostly in the valleys. It has a few thousand bison, and other wildlife. It can/will be dusty in September, but the thistles are in bloom, and lots of butterfly's. We even saw a deer.
There is also The Pioneer Woman Mercantile and restaurant in Pawhuska.

It is a very interesting place(s)! The museums are excellent, also!!!
Beautiful set. One of the reasons I come to UHH is occasionally I learn new things. Thanks for expanding my knowledge

Glad you liked what I saw! The butterflies were quite a challenge to get, as they just loved to fly as I was about to push the shutter button!

Happy you found them to be interesting! It is a photo worth location(s).
And for those who think Kansas is flat, there is the expanse of the preserve in the Flint Hills.
