Today I really came to love swing screen on Nikon Zfc
Only choice with sun at zenith would have been to lie flat and some sort of tripod with side bar.
It took like 15 minutes for partial occultation.
Hope your camera has swing out screen
What failed was remote shutter, battery died but able to press shutter without jarring camera
