Went over to Sanctuary Drive again this afternoon..not sure if this is the same White Faced Heron I photographed there a few months ago.
These shots were taken at 900mm (35mm equivalent) with my D500 and Sigma 150-600mm lens from at least 50 meters (165') away.
I didn't pick it up until I saw the large pic on my monitor but the poor bird looks like it's swallowed some fishing line.
It kept scratching at its face, must be annoying the heck out of it...

Nicely done, Ron. I have seen Herons die from ingesting fishing line; sometimes with hooks still attached.

I could never handle such a distant shot
As soon as I see something at that distance, I get excited and then my hands start to shake
