We were not aware at the time (2011) that this was the first train ride since a murderer was hiding in the woods along the tracks. They wouldn't let us ride in the open air car without telling us why. They did let a couple of crew cutted guys ride in the car. We didn't know who they were.
When we got to the turn around point a sheriff on a quad atv came racing out of the forest saying he had seen the guy in the woods. The two guys in the open air car jumped out, opened their bags and took out vests and AK-47s and ran to the front of the train. I jumped and started taking pictures until they told me to get the heck out of there. They didn't get the guy but they rode back with us guns at the ready. They did get him a few weeks later in a shootout.
Did they charge extra for all the excitement?
Interesting photos...but I don't really understand the situation???
