Change of gear to accommodate old age.
Having lost feeling and dexterity in my fingers I took the decision to change from my beloved M43 Panny to a pro P&S (if there is such a thing). After much deliberation (staying within budget) I chose the Leica D-Lux 109. Financially the swap balanced ok, with the help of Park Cameras.
When switching the Leica on, I can press an Auto button which means I can compose my shot and push the go button. This means all settings are set to best. In the Landscape section I have posted a picture which shows first results. I am pleased, and my photography can now continue.

That sounds great. Got any examples from your new Leica we can take a look at?

Yes - have a look at "Aberaeron" in the Landscape section. I'm still learning the menus!

Congratulations on your new camera, enjoy.
Pardon my ignorance but I don't see a section called Landscape. Can you direct me please?

At the bottom of the page is an “All Sections” link that will give you a listing of all the sections available on UHH. As you scroll down through the list You will find “Landscape Photography”. You can subscribe to any of the sections that interest you.

My problem is with my legs - I wonder how long it will be before I have to use a cane - or even a walker - to get around {I’m sitting on a sofa with a purring cat in my lap as I enter this}. I also am pleased that you have found a way to continue your photography. Your eyes and shutter finger still work.

It's a beautiful photo! I'm not sure that's a landscape but it's a beauty!

My legs and feet also are problematic. I walk with a stick which restores balance. So far I manage quite well. I drive with hand controls - I have found these to be better than foot pedals. (pull to accelerate, push to brake - automatic gears of course) and a knob on the steering wheel for one hand steering.

The word “landscape” means different things to different people. It ‘qualifies’ in my eyes.
I fear the day I can’t shoot images. I’m 74 and have a bad neck and back. Carrying any weight especially on my shoulders hurts like hell so I’ve moved from DSLR to mirrorless etc. I just spent 2 weeks in western Maryland and West Virginia. My wife convinced me to not take my camera gear but just my travel tripod and my iPhone 14 Pro. While it was a struggle I was able walk down the stairs at black waterfalls, swallow falls and Luray Cavern.
I shot in raw whenever possible using a number of different camera apps including the iPhone camera app, Halide, reezhold, even longer and others. I shot handheld long exposures, handheld cave shots, panos, focus stacked, and etc. I felt it took about 90% of what my mirrorless could do with biggest limitation being the telephoto. It also took images I couldn’t have taken with my mirrorless, tripod (not allowed) and a heavy fast lens in the caves. It wasn’t perfect but the alternative wasn’t to shoot at all except out of a car accessible spot. It sucks to get old , laughs.

The alternative allows even less photography (presumably) !
