How do you make a buddy?

feel a bit daft asking this but............how do you make a buddy on UHH and why? sorry if I'm missing something here and if I am I want in!!

Find the person who's photography, info, personality you like...go to "buddy list" at the top meno...click on it...then send a buddy request to that person.

I asked someone the same question and was told that you simply click where it says "add to buddy list" and that person becomes your buddy whether they want to be or not :-D Well, that's not exactly what they said, but they didn't tell me I had to send a request. It's just a way to find a person's posts quickly.
