It's a shame that generic printer ink isn't more reliable. I bought a double set of LD ink cartridges for my Epson XP-970 for about $35. Unfortunately, some of the colors aren't close to being accurate. For good printing, I bought one set of six Epson cartridges for $105. When you figure the actual amount of liquid ink I bought, that price is ridiculous.
This is why I prefer ink tank printers, but I couldn't find one that prints on disks. I did a Google search, and I got a list of all kinds of printers. There are printers that will print on disks, but the description doesn't usually tell you that. Why wouldn't they tell you if it can print on a disk?
Because CDs and DVDs are going the way of floppy disks.

That's no excuse! I want to print on them.
I do it the cheap, lazy way. I buy sticky paper on Ebay and print labels on it, peel the back off and stick it on the disk. Works well for me

This was my review of the LD ink cartridges I purchased for my Canon Pixma MG5320 printer:
The black ink cartridges work although the first large black ink cartridge I tried (C-225) had to be tossed as it didn't fit the printer. The cyan is too light and the magenta works part of the time (C-226). I had to replace the cyan and magenta with Canon ink and do a deep clean to get the Canon magenta to work again.
I have repaired or replaced dozens of automobile CD players and dozens of computer CD/DVD players for people over the years due to stick-on labels coming off in the player.
I use an Epson for CD/DVD printing as well and wish they would come out with en ECO model that would print CD/DVDs.

I used to print the stick-on labels, but they invariably began to lift.

InkOwl sells refillable cartridges that my XP-970 recognizes with no hassle from the printer. The whole set up, cartridges, bottles of ink, and needles costs less than $150.00 and I consistently get 5-6 cartridge refills( each refill last me a minimum of 2 months); thus, I purchase only ink about every 10-11 months. The only thing extra you'll need to purchase is a box of disposal gloves. I've been using their stuff for nearly 3 years.

Epson ET-8500 tank printer prints on cd’s/dvd’s. It has a special slide out tray to put the disk in.

Thanks for that. The "problem" with that is the price. Even my Canon Pro-100 didn't cost that much, and it came with a $300 rebate. If I was in the business of printing on disks, I could justify $550. A full supply of bottled ink costs only $85, though, which is $20 less than the cartridges for the ET-970.

These printer companies have us all under their thumb. They leave you no choice but to pay to play. Good luck in your search.
