I tried to go out this morning and have a good shoot down by the Barnegat Bay. Oppressively hot, humid and buggy conditions sent me back home very quickly; but I did manage to shoot a few photos. Some even were shot through a lens clouded with condensation.

These definitely capture the conditions you describe, and are great examples of using existing conditions in a creative, compelling way.

I prefer the composition of the first. The closer small bodies of water are pleasing elements and a really nice contrast to the saturated colors around the sun. I also very much like that the halo of color extends down into the marsh.

You're very good at capturing an effective "look", but in #1 I'd try to diffuse the halo round the sun. It's coming across as being a bit solid in parts.

Beautiful shots Erich. The second one catches the mood perfectly

Thanks, Linda. The first one is really my favorite because of the condensation on the lens and the effect that created. I also like the water in the foreground. More interest than the other shot. THanks for commenting.

I view both as “layer” shots. Water, wet land, horizon sun. Each have their Own appeal.

I'm attracted to the first one more than the second. I've followed Cany's "foreground interest" work for so long, that I'm now looking for something in the foreground that pulls me in. Your first image has that. The second image has the water as sort of a fence that keeps me out of the scene.

They do; but the bugs I could have done without. Great to hear from you . Thanks for commenting.

Agreed, for that reason, and also the "atmosphere" created by the condensation on the lens, the first shot is the one that works best for me as well. Thanks. Great to hear your comments.

Personally, I love the halo around the sun in #1. Everyone else is just wrong, lol. I love sunstreaks and halos.

Well you certainly captured the mood! Those images definitely have a “hot and humid” feel to them.
