This Nikkor is ideal for Location Portraiture and Fashion Editorials. It's often used for Events (Save the Date; Weddings; Graduations); Street & Photojournalism and Outdoor Sports (Soccer; Football; Beach Volley Ball). However for indoor events you may possibly miss an extra Stop of SS provided by an f/2.8 (or faster) lens to facilitate freezing subject movement. Highly recommend the f/2.8G VR II variant instead for fast paced indoor sports.

That said it's certainly not an issue with "reasonably" static subjects, VR III is absolutely incredible! Nikon Claims 4 to 5 Stops and I'm shooting at 200mm at 1/15 to 1/30 second indoors ambient light on a Nikon D810 with excellent acuity... Believe you'll be amazed at it's VR performance.

Why I'm I selling this epic optic? It's become redundant in my kit since I'm now permanently disabled thus location work isn't an option. I'm replacing this AF-S Nikkor with a pristine copy of an AF 70-210mm f/4 Nikkor that I've always cherish for Studio Work (see examples that follow...)

Moving forward I'm accepting only Studio Assignments where VR isn't germane and can actually cause a slight shutter lag delay while both gyros (angular velocity sensors (pitch & yaw)) spin up... My strobes freeze virtually anything I'm shooting in Studio and my vintage AF 70-210mm f/4 two ring Nikkor can (and does) match this AF-S 70-200mm f/4G ED IF VR at f/5 and above (I'm nearly always at f/8 or greater in the Studio) Besides that vintage (1986-1987) Nikkor is 100 grams lighter, has delightful ergonomics (at least for me) and is about 1/2 T-Stop brighter. Thank you for the extra 10mm of focal length . (I've documented the 1/2 T-Stop gain in imagery below)

That said, I may miss the freedom of working sans a mono or tripod. The AF-S 70-200mm f/4G ED IF VR is really that good! I've even shot it at 1/8 sec stopped down where it still can render static objects in ambient light with crystal clarity at 210mm stopped down to f/5... Magic!

Any questions and/or concerns please ask in this tread so others can benefit (or PM me if you wish) and please be patient... I'm spread a little thin now... Will try my best to get back with you in a timely manner.

I ship USPS Insured with tracking (Buyer pays any shipping balance over $20).
Payment Accepted? Depends on the amount & quality of Feedback in your UHH profile.

Note: This Nikkor is 100% fully functional, a joy to shoot. It's currently in use for Studio Assignments and will remain as such until it finds a new owner.

Thank you for taking the time to review my offering here, trust some may have found it helpful or at least interesting.

My sincere hope is to sell this Pro Nikkor Lens to an Event and/or Sports Shooter in who's hands it truly belongs. Will be adding some comparable alternatives to consider if this AF-S VR III Nikkor is beyond your immediate budget limitations. Nikon has many excellent previous AF & AF D Nikkor models in this zoom range.

A single Wedding Event could easily pay for it...

Since I realize that the $1396.95 price point of a new AF-S 70-200mm f/4G ED IF VR Nikkor may be beyond some on UHH so I'm providing a direct head to head objective comparison of two Nikon AF 70-200mm f/4's. Both shoot from precisely the same locked tripod Gimbal Head with identical settings on a Nikon D3x @ f/8; 1/250; ISO-100; WB calibrated to 5250K; Illumination via a 22" BD w/ Sock; (24" above and 24" in front). Note: Since the vintage Nikkor goes to 210mm I compared both at 70mm to level the playing field. The native Nikon D3x out of camera of size is greater than most of my deliverables so I've down sized these images to 11x16 inches at 300ppi.

Please download and examine... There is virtually little if any discernible IQ difference. I can clearly count eyelashes on both. The only parameter where the newer Nikkor was a tad better is with micro contrast (which I quickly and easily adjusted with minor S curve tweak). That said if you're new to color grading maybe the AF-S is well worth the investment especially since Adobe's Lens correction profile does it's magic for you.

Please download and enjoy

If I didn't already have a copy of this great lens, I would snatch this one up. I love to buy things from Thomas as his offerings are as good as new. His perfect feedback rating is well deserved.

In order to be of service to others who may be looking to add a very capable Telephoto Zoom Nikkor Lens to their kit I'm showcasing the most cost effective Nikkor Telephoto Zoom Lens in my own kit... It offers by far the highest value/cost ratio of all Nikkor Telephoto Zooms I've ever worked with.

The price point of a MK II AF 70-210mm f/4-5.6D Nikkor may likely be within reach of nearly all on UHH so I'm providing another objective comparison of this final remaining variant of Nikon AF 70-200mm f/4 trilogy. Since this vintage variant Nikkor goes to 210mm I'm showing how it does at the long end of its focus reach.

Image below was taken on the MK II Push-Pull AF 70-210mm f/4-5.6D (MK II 1993 to 2000) variant.
Note: the (MKI 1987-1992) variant is best avoided owing to it's much slower focus gearing, lack of iTTL metering support for Speedlights and noisy AF.

What's to love about the Nikon 70-210mm f/4-5.6D Nikkor?
Robust Metal Construction: Made in Japan (Not Plastic Made in China)
Price Point: There really isn't anything in a comparable price point on the market at 70-200mm (210mm) that is better made or better preforming... It focuses faster than nearly all other lens in its' focal range (besides the Flagship 70-200mm f/2.8 variants) and has good acuity...

The only caveats with the MR II 70-210mm f/4-5.6D Nikkor are CA which is easily removed in post and distortion which sadly isn't easily removed since Adobe doesn't provide a Lens Profile for this particular Nikkor.
So it's up to your to use Photoshop's Lens Correction to tame distortion (mostly pincushion at the long end).

More good news! Since it's production run was over 8 years (the MR I production was 5 1/2 years) while the AF 70-210mm f/4 production was only 1 1/2 years). Lots of choices for AF screwdriver focus Nikkors from 1986 to 2000 in the F-Mount! Note: It is Manual Focus only with an FTZ Adapter. Go with an AF-S (G variant instead) since they will support the FTZ Adapter.

Hope this helps or is at least food for thought.
My best wishes to all on your photographic journey...
