I feel like I've been tied down all summer and unable to do any of the trips I had planned. Yesterday I was busy making bookmarks for my next tent show when a friend called and invited me to go to Apache Lake. I hadn't been to Apache Lake for decades, and since the road washed out some years back, it was sort off my list. What fun! It's miles of narrow, dirt road where you either pull dangerously to the edge when meeting another vehicle, or back up to a wide spot in the road. No guard rails, of course, and the plunge down on the passenger side going in is hair raising. On the way, one passes Roosevelt Lake, which is quite large. Both lakes are remarkably full after our wet winter. At Roosevelt, there's only the thinnest of white line above the water line. At Apache, I didn't see any white line, but its shores are quite different. It wasn't a long day, but it sure was good to get out!
And, yes, these were shot with the new R3!
Roosevelt Lake with the Sierra Ancha behind. That's a Salado cliff dwelling in the cave. I believe it's 13th century.
This is saguaro country! A Salado cliff dwelling from the 13th century is up in the cave. We didn't climb up!
Apache Lake is much smaller and shallower. Its fingers reach out in many directions. Here I'm looking to the north from the picnic/camping area.
This is one of the fingers of Apache Lake. I loved the colours in the escarpments along this narrow water.
Nice work indeed Kathy.

Thanks, Don. Those lakes are really pretty.
Love thumbs up. And getting three of them is really nice. Thanks.
With results like that you should get out of the house a lot more.
That looks like the sort of country I'd like to explore. All are lovely shots, and I particularly like your framing in #1.

Thanks. And that's what I said on the way home.

Thank you. I did sort of work on that framing. I'm glad to know you think it worked.
Wonderful tour, Kathy! I am happy you got good weather and conditions.
