Hello, all of you uglies.
Mr.Ed
Loc: Houston, Texas
I don't know how y'all found out how ugly I was, but I am glad to be able to join the Ugly Hedgehog Forum. What a brilliant idea to create a forum where ugly people can commiserate with other ugly people. We ugly people have to stick together to fight discrimination against the ugly.
In between threads on how we can achieve equality with the beautiful people, perhaps by an occupy Hollywood protest where we demand equal representation in movies, TV, and advertising, do you think we could discuss some photography? I know it's kind of off topic, but I have really been getting into it lately.
Actually I got my first real camera in 1987, an EOS 620. I set up a dark room in 1994, but lost it to my second son in 1995. My interest dropped off after that, and by 2001 all my gear was sold, stolen, or loaned out never to be returned.
Even though I no longer had a film camera, I remained a film snob until August of 2009. I had a small P&S just for documentation purposes (a cheaper Olympus) but I never expected to get a quality picture out of it or any other digital camera. I would go back to a film camera one day to get quality photos. Well, in that month I got a MacBook Pro with a free copy of iPhoto. When I plugged the camera into the computer, iPhoto automatically came up and I saw THE EDIT BUTTON. Once I saw how easy it was to enhance color, shadow detail, etc, I was completely over film.
A few months later I bought a Sony HX1 (still great for a lightweight camera) and late last year I threw all in and got a Canon 60D. I recently upgraded my software to Aperture 3 which I am struggling to master. As a marginal technical person I have yet to try and tackle Photoshop.
Well, sorry to digress. Photography has become somewhat of a passion of mine, so I will probably talk about it a lot here. Rest assured though, I stand shoulder to shoulder with you to fight for the acceptance and equality that is the constitutional right of every ugly American.

The optimist finds beauty in an ugly picture.
The pessimist finds beauty in the pictures ugliness.
