Oriental brain tissue neurons embedded in modern cameras ! ! Auto settings are a good start for changing settings.

Yes, even toy cameras in pro hands..." most cameras on the market today are more than capable of providing the vast majority of people with the abilities they need to shoot great photos."

I am in agreement, we have cameras with lots of technologies that most probably we will never use and I am not talking about the new cameras but those we already own now. My Olympus EM-10 E Mk II was released in 2015 and during this time I have not used some of its features, being Live Composite one of them. The camera is very capable especially with professional lenses. I am using an aftermarket L clamp with it that allows me to have a better grip of the camera.

Lenses are in the same category. Somebody was not happy with the Nikon 18-200 f3.5-5.6 VR and I bought the lens at a very reasonable price. I have been very happy with it as an all around lens. I have to assume that the person who sold it to me did not know how to use it.
According to a Tokina CEO and I quote, "most lenses are better than most photographers."

Human nature loves to take the EASY way out... To BUY the latest and greatest is MUCH easier than to LEARN the latest and greatest. Use the best glass you can and SLOW down and take your time with composition and lighting.... Put a lock on the GAS cap and exploit what you prob. already have...

The only camera that isn't better than me is broken, but getting closer every day.

If somehow, tomorrow, all Americans decided to use everything until it broke, only buy what they must, etc., then the US economy, followed by the world economy, would soon collapse. Certainly, by the time we all needed new cameras, the companies would be gone and there'd be no cameras to buy.

I always use everything until it broke. I never upgrade only replace when things broke.

My camera never helped an old lady across the street. 😁

On the other hand, my camera can do a lot more than I have been asking of it.

Well yeah! Every camera I bought has taught me. Much.
Who would buy a brand new camera that's not good enough?
Nikon D3100, D5200 and D7100 debuted, the 55-200 "kit" lens was better than the camera.
They were basically the same camera, just bios upgrades long the money trail.
My D7100 did not take better pictures than my D3100. Same sensor, etc.
A lot of folk I know that bought any one of these- kept it.
And they'll say "Still learning"! 24mp and the "kit" takes great shots,
It's lack of enough technique that's missing. So they practice,
And we all know this.

Maybe, just Maybe, we need a different economy model... MAYBE we could think of other creative things to do which do not require factories etc... How bout " pictures in the sand ".

We're being groomed.
Planned obsolescence is the norm, as well as fast fashion dictates.

I want my next camera to make my dinner and clean my house. Is that too much to ask for?
