Starting to process 2023 images. Early in January this year, my wife and I went to the San Diego Safari Park (used to be San Diego Wild Animal Park). This is a large park (several thousand acres) where most, but not all animals roam freely in large enclosures. Not so the birds; most of them are in large aviaries, except for the wild birds that come and freeload in the various ponds, waterways, etc. When photographing birds within an aviary several problems come up. First, often you have to wait until other people have passed through. Then you have to wait for the bird to perch in an area that has a decent background (usually for me the most difficult part) and finally you have to put up with harsh, spackled light, as the zoo does not open until later in the morning so the sun is too high. Even when all of this comes together sometimes there are multiple birds in the scene which may or may not add to your vision of the image. This is the first group of shots I have processed. Shot with an R7, 100-500mm lens, handheld. Processed in PS and run through DeNoise AI.
The specie names of the birds are on each image.

Nice shots. Were they taken through screens or in an open aviary? If through screens, very good work. If not, good work.

Thank you. It is nice to see and photograph birds that I will likely never see in the wild.

Great set Baja. Great results especially with the environment. Makes me really want to go there.

Not to be picky! But
One comment on your names...the blue bird is a Victorian Crowned Pigeon. I have seen them at the Phoenix Zoo...plus I've seen tge Demoisselle Crane..which is quite different.

No screens. These are "walk through" aviaries. One of the major problems though is the screens behind the birds in the BG. The image of the Northern Bald Ibis has a heavy screen in the BG. I isolated the BG via a mask and applied a Gaussian Blur to the screen to make it less obtrusive.

You are absolutely right! Thank you for pointing that out. I will change that on my master image.
