I recently came across a post on Facebook about this. The poster claimed that in the ‘50s and ‘60s as a kids in school in the US, they wore dog tags or bracelets with the same info that was contained on military dog tags…name, religion, blood type. The reason given was that the tags would allow body identification in the event of an attack by Russia. I was in elementary school at that time and we didn’t have anything like this. I’ve checked with about a dozen or so people my age and none remember anything like this…although we all remember hiding under our desks.
I know FB isn’t the most reliable source for accurate information but does any one of you remember having dog tags/id bracelets
in school in the ‘50s and ‘60s.

Nope. I only remember drills of hiding under desks and being told a lot of propaganda BS. If that kid "dog tag" thing is even real, it was regional only.

That’s what I’m thinking. If it was a “thing” somewhere, I’m hoping someone on UHH can chime in.

That's what I recall, too. Worries about nuclear attacks and hiding under the desk. Thinking back on it we would have been better off sitting on the floor, placing our heads between our knees and kissing our a**** good-bye in the case of a nuclear attack.

Well, I was in elementary school starting in the early '50's, and DEFINITELY there were no dog tags for kids.

I don't remember anything like this. I do remember fake/toy dog tags that didn't have such information.
